Aquarius Team Members Scale the Strat to Support the American Lung Association in Nevada

Aquarius Raises $4,290 for Extreme Stair Climb Fundraiser

LAUGHLIN, NV – March 11, 2015 – Twenty-four Aquarius Casino Resort team members tackled all 1,455 steps and 108 floors of the iconic Stratosphere Tower in Las Vegas during the seventh annual Scale the Strat on Sunday, March 1, 2015 to support the American Lung Association in Nevada

This year, Team Aquarius recruited more than twice as many climbers as last year, including Aquarius General Manager Sean Hammond, who climbed the Stratosphere Tower for his fifth time.

“Climbing all the stairs inside the tallest building west of the Mississippi is not an easy thing to do,” said Hammond. “But we know we are climbing for those in our community who struggle for air every day. That makes all the training and fundraising worthwhile because we know we are making a difference.”

The team was creative with their fundraising efforts, holding two community car washes to raise funds for employees to participate. The hard work paid off. Collectively, Team Aquarius raised $4,290 for the American Lung Association in Nevada’s mission of preventing lung disease and promoting lung health.

“The support we receive each year from Aquarius Casino Resort and the Laughlin-Bullhead City community is tremendous,” said Kristina Crawford, executive director of the American Lung Association in Nevada. “Together we are changing people’s lives by allowing them to breathe easier.”

The top three times for Team Aquarius were: Will Klass, Aquarius Security, who climbed the entire Tower in 10 minutes and 39 seconds. Art Harford, Aquarius Valet, climbed the Tower in 10 minutes and 50 seconds, and David DeJesus, Aquarius Housekeeping, climbed the Tower in 11 minutes and 29 seconds.

This was the fifth consecutive year Aquarius team members participated in this event along with employees at its sister properties Stratosphere Casino, Hotel & Tower and Arizona Charlie’s. Together they climb as Team Stratospheric Scalers. An impressive 630 climbers registered for this year’s event, and so far more than $212,000 has been raised for the American Lung Association in Nevada. Fundraising efforts continue until April 2, 2015 at www.scalethestrat.com.
