Aquarius Announces Fourth Annual “Feed a Family” Program

Goal is to Surpass Last Year’s Total of 960 Families Fed

LAUGHLIN, NV – October 21, 2015 – For the fourth consecutive year, Aquarius Casino Resort announces the return of the highly successful “Feed a Family” program, an ace | PLAY™ member points contribution program which helps local families who struggle with hunger during the holidays.

From Sunday, November 1 through Sunday, December 20, 2015, ace | PLAY card members can contribute points that will go directly to putting a Thanksgiving or Christmas meal on the table of a local tri-state family in need.

Last year Aquarius was able to feed 960 families, that's 3,840 thanks to the incredible generosity of its ace | PLAY members who contributed points to the program. Aquarius is asking loyal ace | PLAY members to help top that number this year.

“We have witnessed the incredible kindness and generosity of our ace | PLAY members, and the success of this program is due to their willingness to give back to the community,” said Aquarius Casino Resort General Manager Sean Hammond. “Our goal is to make giving easy. There are so many families in our area that need just a little bit of assistance. We want to help make everyone’s holiday feel like a holiday.”

For every 12,000 ace | PLAY points contributed, Aquarius will purchase a box of holiday food items large enough for a family of four, including a 12 pound turkey for Thanksgiving and an 8 pound ham for Christmas, potatoes, gravy, vegetables, rolls, cranberry sauce, stuffing, pie, and whipped cream, which will then be donated to local food banks and pantries, and distributed to local families. Contributions less than 12,000 points will be combined with other members’ points. Guest and Team Members of Aquarius can also donate cash to the program.

For more information on the “Feed a Family” program, go to, or call 702-298-5028 or visit the ace | PLAY center inside Aquarius.

Arizona is one of the worst states in the United States when it comes to child hunger. In Arizona, 1 in 4 children; 1 in 5 adults; and 1 in 7 seniors struggle with hunger every day. Children are more vulnerable to poverty and food-insecurity because they have to rely on others to give them food. The latest U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey showed that 27.0% of children under the age of 18 in Arizona lived in poverty in 2014. 28.2% of children in Arizona have food-insecurity.

Nevada also experiences food-insecurity, in regards to children. In Clark County, over 120,000 children are living in food-insecure households, one of the highest figures for all U.S. counties. The child food-insecurity rate in Nevada is 28.1%, almost the same amount as Arizona.

Unemployment is another factor that affects the rate of food-insecurity and poverty. In August, 2014, both Arizona and Nevada were in the top rankings for highest unemployment rates in the United States. A great way to help combat the food-insecurity problem is to donate to local food banks that can distribute needed provisions and nutrition to these children.
