Aquarius Team Members Volunteer to Help One Local Family in Need

LAUGHLIN, NV – July 11, 2014 – One Fort Mohave, AZ couple has received some much needed repairs to their home thanks to the nonprofit organization, American Center for Educational Opportunities (AMCEO) and volunteers from Aquarius Casino Resort, who were able to help them through an outreach home repair program called The Green Cactus Project.

Walter and Rochelle Voyles were in dire need of repairs to their house. Due to water damage, new bathroom and kitchen fixtures and an exterior paint job were needed, as well essential repairs to their windows throughout the house. On Father’s Day weekend, AMCEO and Aquarius team members supplied building materials and volunteer labor to make sure the repairs were made.

Walter Voyles served during the Vietnam War and has little to no resources. Due to his failing eyesight and lack of resources to fix terribly needed repairs to his home, AMCEO, which is a nonprofit organization that Aquarius Casino Resort supports, reached out to Voyles.

“We knew this family was in serious need of some help in fixing up their home so we knew we had to reach out to them,” said AMCEO Executive Director Ginger Gates. “This is not a glamorous project, but we hoped it would make a world of difference for their family.”

AMCEO is a nonprofit organization that provides community outreach and education programs to low-income rural seniors who are service connected disabled. One of those programs is The Green Cactus Project, which seeks to help fill the gap in housing repairs that low-income elderly, disabled and rural veteran homeowners struggle to meet.

“We fully support AMCEO’s mission to help struggling veterans and it was our pleasure to lend a hand to get the Voyles’ home in good living condition once again,” said Aquarius Casino Resort General Manager Sean Hammond. “I’m so proud of the Aquarius team members that stepped up and helped this couple repair their home.”
